Putu Mayong

Putu Mayong is a popular Indian dessert which looks like bi hun and it is made from steamed rice flour. It is usually eaten with grated coconut and brown sugar. Putu Mayong can be found either in white colour or in green colour.

I was first introduced to Putu Mayong by my grandmother who is a huge fan of Putu Mayong.
Putu Mayong is widely sold in Malaysia, mostly by Indians by the roadside stall. It is cheap yet yummy.
The seller always wraps the brown sugar and dessicated coconut seperately so the consumers can adjust the sweetness of their Putu Mayong by themselves.

All you need to do is mix up the coconut shreds and the brown sugar together with the Putu Mayong and this makes them a perfect match.

Coconut Shreds
Scramble them together and consume as soon as possible. It conquers your taste buds in no time!

When we were young, the putu mayong was just in white color. Nowadays, you guys have 2 choices, white and green. You are lucky!!!

Putu mayong is always the elders' favourite. Nowadays, the young people seldom eat this. Sometimes, I wonder don't they know that putu mayong is such a yummy food?!

I have only eaten the green one. Maybe I should try the white one someday.
