Canton-i 香港粥面家 at Queensbay Mall
A new Canton-i restaurant is established in Queensbay. It is under the management of the famous Dragon-i restaurant, but it serves different cuisine. Similar to Dragon-i, Canton-i has an open kitchen which enables the customers to see for themselves, the actual food preparation process.
My mother missed those authentic mouth-watering Hong Kong cuisine a lot. Therefore, we decided to pay Canton-i a visit. With no doubt, Canton-i really serves the original Hong Kong cuisine. Their chefs had been invited from Hong Kong and Guangzhou, even their ingredients are imported, that's why they have the ability to make such tasty Hong Kong cuisine without any doubt!

Signature Prawn Wonton Noodles 鲜虾云吞面

Congee with 3 Combinations (Pork Liver, Century Egg, Deep Fried Pork Intestine)
三拼粥 (猪肝、皮蛋、炸大肠)
You get to choose any 3 combinations that you like as they have quite a large variety of choices.
Pork Intestine Congee 状元及弟粥

Pan-fried Chinese Pancake 香煎薄餐

Fried Turnip Cake with XO Sauce XO酱炒萝卜糕
I love this dish the most. Truly worth savouring! Turnip cake fried together with XO sauce is totally a perfect match!

Deep Fried Egg Paste with Cinnamon Honey Sauce 龙须蛋散
Not trying to be offensive, but then, in my personal opinion, I don't appreciate this dish as it is TOO sweet. Even my friends have the same opinion too.

Flowering Red Amaranth 水中花篮
This is absolutely a must-try beverage. At first, I thought that this is just an ordinary flower-tea. But then, I noticed that the flower will pop up after some time. Quite interesting!

Haven't had such authentic Hong Kong Tea with milk for a long time already. I really enjoy my meal with a cup of this and it is going to be in my must-order-list now. By the way, this is also one of the chef's recommendations too. Their Hong Kong Tea uses the 'Black & White' brand of evaporated milk from Holland which is designed to pamper every one's tastebuds!

haven't tried their siew mai before...are they really that nice?? will try them soon...
The flower tea is quite interesting, i love to see the flower blossom in slow motion.
U can also try the beef brisket and tendons the next time u go there. The briskets are not too tough; the tendons are not too chewy, and the gravy goes very well with the 2 ingredients.
How fun to see the food preparation. Thanks for stopping by my kitchen. It gave me a chance to discover yours.

Oh, this all looks delicious. I wish I could find a good restaurant that served authentic Hong Kong cuisine, as I've never really had anything truly "authentic". YUM!
[min]
the flower actually blossomed in fast motion. it popped up from the leaves suddenly.
the beef brikets and tendons, never knew that they have such a dish, might give it a try someday!
[my carolina kitchen]
the open-kitchen was a great concept. indeed fun to see the chefs cutting and choping the roasted ducks and chickens. the way they cut and chop really amazed me!

can't you find authentic Hong Kong cuisine in Indianna?!
well, if that's the case, maybe you may fly to LA's or NY's Chinatown. My friend said that they serve even more authentic Hong Kong cuisine there!
The food looks wonderful! I haven't eaten authentic Cantonese/ Hongkong meal for a long time :)

[peachkins]
that's really a rare combination! willing to try it out someday.
Penang has a very famous pork intestine congee stall near the sunway hotel.
the fried pork intestines are very 'crunchy' and the porridge is really really fine and delicious.
i love it very much but i seldom go there as it is too expensive, their price keeps increasing.
however, it is worth a try if you're a huge fan of pork intestine congee.
[food-4tots]
try it out as soon as possible and do feel free to tell me more about your foodie experience there.
regarding the navigation bar, i had removed it for a long time already. are you thinking to remove yours too??!
[little inbox]
is that true?! i seldom go to queensbay on weekdays.....
Man....they are sure enjoying the endless stream of customers!!!
My top navi bar comes with my Wordpress template. I find it very useful. Why did u remove it?
[food for tots]
i don't know anything about wordpress....but my only reason that i removed my nav bar is that i found that its colour could not match with my layout no matter what colour i changed. That's my main and only reason!!!
by the way, comparing blogger and wordpress, which one do is better??
hehe i jz came back frm Canton-i!! heard so mcuh abt their wan tan mee..
but i felt freaking thirsty aft the meal ;(
[thenomadGourmand]
so, did you find the food there delicious?!
as for the wan ton mee, why do you feel thirsty after eating? was it too salty??
i only had a feeling after eating and that was TOO FULL!!!
Do you like durian? if yes, you should try their deep fried durian pancake. It's awesome!
[allie]
as a Penangite and a Malaysian, of course I LOVE DURIAN~~~~
really?! i never knew that they have deep fried durian pancake, will give it a try soon. By the way, thanks for the foodie info!
If you want more controls on your website, self-hosted WP is better. Want to switch?
[food for tots]
erm...probably not so soon as i am still new, have lots to learn....
by the way, is it very complicated to do the switching-job? and do i need to start everything all over again???
Those wonton and sui kow look very delicious!
[KennyT]
yea...they were awesome! don't forget to try out the siew mai there....
I love oriental dishes and those ones showed look delicious very nice indeed, thanks for this with us. cheers !! :) xx
I've tried the Signature Prawn Wonton Noodles and Roasted Pork at Canton-i of Queensbay Mall. It was superb! The Roasted Pork is of top quality in Penang.
I loved the flower blossom tea so much that I wanted to buy it - great for family dinners/gatherings, fantastic conversational piece. Well, i found that they are actually selling it here - hope its useful to you guys who do not always frequent canton-i
