Fishing Village Restaurant @ Teluk Bahang

I haven't been up to Batu Ferringhi for a long time and I can't even remember when was my last visit. I have always loved Batu Ferringhi. It's a nice place to hangout with friends, wandering around the night market (or also known as "pasar malam") and walking on the sandy beach are wonderful things to do.

Since I had nothing to do for the following days, I decided to get a couple of friends at the newly established Hard Rock Hotel for some rock-n-roll-fun. We were actually planning for a dinner at Hard Rock Cafe but things didn't turn up to be so satisfying. We had forgotten to make a booking for that. Damn it~ the cafe was fully booked.

So, having nothing to eat. We eventually drove further up to Teluk Bahang (a quiet fishing village at the tail-end of the coastal road on the northern side of Penang Island) and ended up having dinner at the crowded Fishing Village Restaurant.

When we reached there, it was nearly 8.30pm already and everyone was starving. Thank god we were lucky enough to get seated after waiting for 10 minutes. One of my friends was quite in a rush to go back home. So, we ordered something simple and FAST! Actually, the dishes weren't really "FAST", it took approximately 40 minutes for them to be served~~~

Fried Kailan
Haha....this vege has a "weird" name. According to the wikipedia, Kailan is also known as Gai-Lan, Chinese broccoli or Chinese kale. It's a slightly bitter leaf vegetable featuring thick, flat, glossy blue-green leaves with thick stems and a small number of tiny, almost vestigial flower heads. A common dish for Chinese people.

Deep fried squid
This was the best dish on the table. I simply love the squid covered in the golden deep fried skin. But it was a little bit too oily for me. A must to try!!!

Steamed Big Fresh Prawns
Steamed prawns is one of my favourites too, they rank among my list. But the most important thing, my prawns have to be big and fresh. They are totally tempting with soy sauce.

Char Hor Fun
I like this dish. The gravy and the hor fun made a great couple! The hor fun itself was very "slippery" and yummy. And the chef was generous enough to give us quite a number of big fresh prawns.

The restaurant prides itself in offering great seafood. For me, the price was not too high, our total bill was only RM50. It's advisable to go this place earlier, around 6-7pm is the best, you can enjoy the sunset while waiting for your food to be served and you don't need to wait to be seated.
